Durst
May Work With Fincher On Mob Film
. . . |
|
Fred Durst may prefer "Wanna-Be"
to "Runt."
No, they aren't nicknames they're
the films vying with "Life Without Joe" to be
the Limp Bizkit singer's big-screen directorial debut.
Durst, who has directed music videos for
Bizkit and Korn, has committed in the past to "Runt"
and "Life Without Joe," though he did not say
which he would do first.
Now Variety has him linked to "Wanna-Be,"
a fictional children-of-the-mob drama written by late Pulitzer
Prize-winning newspaper columnist Mike McAlary.
The movie trade magazine reported that
Durst would work on the film with his directing mentor David
Fincher ("Fight Club"), similar to his plans for
"Runt." Actors Paul Walker ("The Fast and
the Furious") and Scott Caan ("Boiler Room")
are in negotiations to star in the $30 million film.
"Wanna-Be" may begin shooting
in October, according to Variety. Durst said earlier this
year he would begin "Runt" or "Life Without
Joe" in the fall (see "Dispatch From Durstland:
Puddle Of Mudd Vid, 'Movie Thing' Imminent").
Spokespeople for Durst did not return phone
calls.

Aussie
Police To Question Limp Bizkit Over Fan Death
. . . |
|
Limp Bizkit are being
interviewed this week, but not by the press frontman Fred
Durst has sworn off in his recent Web site postings.
Australian police are in the U.S. to question
the band and their management about the death of the 15-year-old
girl who was crushed at a Sydney concert in January, according
to Reuters.
A police spokesperson told the news organization
on Thursday (July 19) that two officers flew to Los Angeles
as part of a coroner's investigation into the death of Jessica
Michalik, who suffered a heart attack in the mosh pit at
Sydney's annual Big Day Out festival.
Limp Bizkit pulled out of their headlining
slot for the remaining Big Day Out shows in Australia after
the melee in Sydney, and accused the promoters of ignoring
the band's safety concerns.

Dispatch
From Durstland: Puddle Of Mudd Vid, 'Movie Thing' Imminent
. .

|
Fred Durst, recovering from a back injury
that forced Limp Bizkit to cancel the last five dates of
their European tour, has announced his "to do"
list on the band's official Web site, www.limpbizkit.com.
While apologizing to his overseas fans
for the unexpected cancellations (see "Fred Durst's
Aching Back Shuts Down Bizkit Tour"), Durst said that
he's preparing to direct Puddle of Mudd's new video in Florida.
The clip will be for "Control," the first single
off the band's album Come Clean, scheduled for an August
14 release, according to an Interscope Records spokesperson.
Puddle of Mudd, along with Kenna, are the
latest signings to Durst's Flawless Records imprint. The
band is currently on the road with fellow Durst discoveries
Staind and Cold.
Durst also said that his "movie thing"
is imminent, though he doesn't specify which of the two
films he's set to direct will take priority. Both "Runt,"
a flick focusing on a high school outcast, and the horror
movie "Life Without Joe" are on the Bizkit frontman's
agenda (see "Durst Says Time Is Right For His Movie
About School Outcast" and "Durst To Direct Teen
Thriller 'Life Without Joe' "), though his label rep
couldn't say which he'll tackle first.
Limp Bizkit will begin pre-production on
their as-yet-untitled fourth album in August.

Fred's back injury
stops 'ur a peehin tour' dead in tracks (june 20th) limp
bizkit front man Fred Durst has suffered a severe back injury,
which has pre-maturely ended the bands tour of Europe. Described
as a 'stress fracture', Durst was advised by doctors to
take a manditory 2 week rest period from all phyiscal happenings,
in order for the injured part of his back to heal. No one
is postive of what exactly caused the injury, but we can
only imagine that it is just a injury do to months upon
months of touring and heavy activity on his back and whole
body. We havent had a chance to speak with Fred himself,
but a source close to him reports to us that he is resting
at his mother Anita's Jacksonville home.
